Dr. Kent Chan was born and raised on the east coast. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida. He graduated with his doctorate in medicine in 1991 from the University of Miami School of Medicine. He then moved to New York and completed his four-year residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology between 1996-2000 at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset. Dr. Chan then went on to complete his sub-specialty training in gynecologic oncology at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in New York. He completed his fellowship and joined LIGO in August of 2003. Dr Chan’s area of expertise is in laparoscopic surgery.
Dr. Chan is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine at both Stony Brook and Winthrop-University Hospitals.
He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
He is board certified by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ABOG) in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology. Dr. Chan is also a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG).
Dr. Chan is married to Dr. Eva Sokal, who is a dentist, and they have two children, Paulina and Eric. Dr. Chan enjoys spending time with his family and exploring the restaurants and culture of Manhattan, New York.
