Information for Prospective Patients

If you have been told that you have or might have gynecologic cancer, we are available to assist you. A consultation with one of our physicians may be arranged in two ways. Most commonly, your doctor will refer you to us. Alternatively, you may contact our offices directly at 631-864-5440 or 516-294-5440.

It is important for us to review your prior medical records, CT scans, x-rays or biopsies. Please bring written reports from these tests with you or have them sent to our office in advance. If you need assistance in obtaining your records or have any questions, please ask to speak with a medical assistant in one of our offices. If your managed care company requires a referral to see a sub-specialist, it is your responsibility to obtain it prior to your appointment.

Typically, your initial consultation will consist of a comprehensive history, review of your medical records and a thorough physical examination. After you have been examined, the physician will meet with you and whomever else you wish to be present. The results of your evaluation will be discussed and recommendations for further evaluation or treatment will be provided.

To provide the most accurate information to your patient, we would appreciate having all pertinent records, biopsy slides and imaging studies sent to our office prior to the patient’s consultation. If the patient requires urgent evaluation, she may bring her records personally.

After your patient has been seen for her initial consultation, you will receive a detailed letter, and if indicated, phone calls discussing our evaluation and recommendations. In addition, you will receive a summary letter following each subsequent visit. Of course, you are always welcome to contact us personally if you have any questions.
